Often, we get asked these questions a lot. The honest answer is, “It depends.” It depends on a number of things and it defers from person to person. The frequency highly depends on your concerns and even your own comfort levels. Reiki sessions can be spaced out as closely or as far apart as needed. As practitioners, it is common for us to practice Reiki healing on ourselves on a daily basis. There is almost no negative side effects to getting a Reiki healing session :)
People seek Reiki healing for various reasons. Receiving regular Reiki is an excellent form of self-care and even self discovery. It helps you maintain holistic balance by balancing your chakras and facilitate inner healing.
If you choose Reiki as a form of pampering or as an energy booster, then a Reiki healing session every once in a while is sufficient (~ 2-3 months in between sessions or monthly as a self care routine, e.g facials).
If you have a chronic condition or a specific trauma that you are trying to work through and wish to have Reiki healing sessions with the aim of improving your health challenge or to overcome the issue, more closely spaced sessions will be recommended. It can be as close as 2-3x a week, up to weekly or fortnightly sessions depending on each individual's circumstances and comfort level.
As with all healing process, Reiki healing is no magic or miracle. It takes time. Especially with some issues, it might take longer as Reiki works gently to ease your body, mind and soul into acceptance and completion. Reiki healing is a gentle healing energy therapy. It serves to work with you for your highest and better self and your highest and better good. It works for you and with you when you are ready and where is it needed the most. It never overwhelms you or forces you into something you are not ready for.
If you are experiencing conditions like sleep issues, anxiety, stress and tension and seeking comfort in Reiki, healing sessions will be recommended from fortnightly to monthly until conditions improves.
It is important to note that individuals may experience completely different sensations/emotions from session to session, as each session can uncover itself differently from the last. Every individual goes through different life experiences/phases and also respond differently physically, emotionally and spiritually. These external factors plus individual's personal growth can contribute to a totally different experience for every Reiki healing session. Discuss and speak to your practitioner on how Reiki healing can be best implemented into your daily routine.
Reiki energy is cumulative and builds up in the system. While the benefits of Reiki may be noticeable after one session, regular Reiki sessions are desirable for long term results. Just like everything, the more you do it, the better the results. (e.g. one yoga class may feel wonderful, but regular yoga is where you will truly feel and see the benefits.)
